Chakras

The seven energy centres of the subtle body — guiding the flow of physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual energy from root to crown.

Medicinal traditions across India describe the chakras as energetic centres aligned along the spine. Each chakra is connected to different qualities of life — stability, creativity, confidence, love, expression, intuition, and higher awareness.

When these centres are balanced, energy flows through the body and mind with greater harmony. Practices such as yoga, breathwork, meditation, mantra, sound healing, and Ayurveda are traditionally used to support chakra alignment and inner balance.

SAHASRARA — Crown Chakra

Sahasrara, the Crown Chakra, represents pure awareness and the connection between individual consciousness and something greater than the self. It is often described as the point where the mind becomes quiet and experiences deep unity and clarity.

Unlike the other chakras, Sahasrara is not linked to a specific element or physical function. It is believed to open naturally through inner balance, spiritual growth, surrender, and readiness rather than force or control.

Many traditions describe it as a state of higher understanding, wisdom, and liberation. In spiritual systems like Tantra and Kabbalah, it symbolizes the highest level of consciousness — where separation dissolves and a person feels deeply connected to life itself.

AJNA — Third Eye Chakra

Ajna, known as the Third Eye Chakra, represents clarity, intuition, awareness, and inner guidance. It is seen as the center where logic and intuition come together, helping a person see beyond confusion and react with greater understanding.

In yogic traditions, Ajna is considered the meeting point of the body’s main energy channels, making it a powerful center of perception and higher awareness. When balanced, it brings mental clarity, focus, discernment, and the ability to observe life without becoming lost in emotion or illusion.

Many traditions connect this chakra with wisdom, insight, and deep self-awareness. It is not only about intuition, but also about balancing intuition with clear thinking, discipline, and truth.

VISHUDDHA — Throat Chakra

Vishuddha, the Throat Chakra, is the center of communication, truth, and authentic self-expression. It represents the bridge between the inner world and the outer world — turning thoughts, emotions, and experiences into clear expression.

This chakra is closely connected with sound, language, speaking, singing, mantra, and the power of words. In many traditions, truthful communication is seen as a form of purification, helping a person express themselves with honesty and clarity.

When Vishuddha is balanced, it supports confidence in communication, deep listening, wisdom in speech, and the ability to express truth without fear or distortion.

ANAHATA — Heart Chakra

Anahata, the Heart Chakra, is the center of love, compassion, connection, and emotional balance. It represents the meeting point between the physical and spiritual sides of life — where personal love expands into deeper understanding and universal care.

In many traditions, Anahata is seen as the bridge between the lower chakras connected to survival and emotion, and the higher chakras connected to wisdom and awareness. Its symbol reflects harmony, balance, and the union of different energies within the self.

This chakra is also connected with the heart, lungs, and breath, reminding us of the natural flow of giving and receiving. When balanced, Anahata brings openness, empathy, forgiveness, inner peace, and the ability to love without fear.

MANIPURA — Solar Plexus Chakra

Manipura, the Solar Plexus Chakra, is the center of personal power, confidence, action, and transformation. Often called the “city of jewels,” it represents the inner fire that turns energy, experiences, and intention into strength and purpose.

This chakra is closely connected with digestion, vitality, courage, and the ability to take action. In Ayurveda, it is linked with the digestive fire that supports both physical energy and emotional resilience.

When Manipura is balanced, it brings confidence, motivation, leadership, self-belief, and the strength to move through life with clarity and determination.

SVADHISTHANA — Sacral Chakra

Svadhisthana, the Sacral Chakra, is connected to emotions, pleasure, creativity, relationships, and the ability to feel deeply. Known as “one’s own dwelling place,” it represents the space where desire, connection, and emotional flow begin.

This chakra is linked with the water element, symbolizing movement, sensitivity, and adaptability. It influences emotional balance, intimacy, creative expression, and the natural flow of energy through the body and mind.

When Svadhisthana is balanced, it brings emotional openness, healthy relationships, creativity, joy, passion, and the ability to experience life fully without fear or emotional blockage.

MULADHARA — Root Chakra

Muladhara, the Root Chakra, is the foundation of the entire chakra system and is connected to stability, survival, safety, and grounding. It represents our basic sense of security, belonging, and connection to the physical world.

This chakra is linked with the earth element and supports the body’s strength, resilience, and ability to feel settled in life. It is also connected to the dormant Kundalini energy, which is believed to rise upward as spiritual awareness awakens.

When Muladhara is balanced, it creates a deep sense of trust, inner stability, emotional grounding, and the confidence to face life without constant fear or insecurity.
