What Is Ayurveda?

The Science of Life — Exploring India’s Ancient Approach to Health and Wellness

Ayurveda is a traditional Indian system of wellness that views health through the lens of daily habits, digestion, and the balance of physical and mental qualities. Instead of focusing only on individual symptoms, it looks at the bigger picture, including food, sleep, stress, seasonal changes, and relationships, to understand what may be affecting overall wellbeing.

What Does “Ayurveda” Mean?

Ayurveda is one of India’s oldest traditional systems of medicine, with roots dating back thousands of years. The word comes from two Sanskrit terms: AYUS, meaning life, and VEDA, meaning knowledge or science. Together, they translate to “the science of life.”

Ayurveda extends beyond the treatment of illness. It explores how the body functions, how everyday choices influence wellbeing, and how living in tune with nature can support a balanced and healthy life.
